We come from the trade, not a boardroom

I grew up around tools. My old man was a chippy, his old man was a chippy, and the sound I most associate with home is a circular saw starting up in the shed on a Saturday morning. I went out on my own at twenty-four with a ute, a trailer and more confidence than sense. The work was never the scary part. I could frame a roof, hang a door, read a set of plans. What nobody warned me about was the other job. The one that starts after you have already done a full day.
